Dibakar Banerjee
didn’t just direct Shanghai (2012),
but also penned the lyrics of Bharat Mata
Ki Jai, which became popular because it had witty lines like Sone ki chidiya, Dengue malaria, Gud bhi hai
gobar bhi hai [which means (India is) a golden bird and a breeding ground
for diseases, because there’s jaggery as well as s**t].
The song was
composed by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani. It was four minutes and six
seconds long and was sung by Keerthi Sagathia, Dadlani, Banerjee, Mandar Apte,
Chintamani Sohoni and R N Iyer. It was remixed too.
